Candace And Dyllon’s Hurricane Ridge Elopement

Candace and Dyllon sure had a wild ride for their Hurricane Ridge elopement. This Texas couple always knew they wanted an adventurous elopement, to match their adventurous spirits. We instantly clicked with them on the phone and video call (thank the 21st century for this awesome modern technology!). We couldn’t wait to start cracking on their surprise elopement plans.

A Hurricane Ridge elopement is a popular choice, and for good reason. The gorgeous mountain pass sports 360-degree mountain views and is quite stunning at sunrise and sunset. However, it tends to be a little tricky predicting the weather, road closures, etc. because it’s so high up. Like all great things in the PNW, it really makes you work for it. Keeping an eye on the webcams and road closure updates on the website is a great way to anticipate and try to plan, but keep in mind that it can change suddenly and you may need an alternative.

Candace and Dyllon traveled down early for some engagement photos, and it was so great to be with them in person, finally! They lit up during their photos, and we couldn’t wait to get to know them more. As their Hurricane Ridge elopement day was upon us, the rain struck, and the day became gloomy.

However, they remained bright, positive and so in love, literally nothing could get them down. When we got to the parking lot, clear umbrellas in hand, we weighed our options. The road closed down, leaving us with few places to go. But we had no fear because in Washington, you can get married in the road and it would still be stunning. And that’s what we did! They had a moody ceremony in the road, with their closest family around them, huddled tight and keeping warm. While it might not have seemed like the best place to elope, it turned out epic and made for wonderful photos (and memories)

We did some portraits in the road, and in the woods. Then the sky opened, and we were able to trek to some mountain views, for some epic sunset portraits. Their day was truly unpredictable and adventurous. And that’s exactly what they wanted! To come home with some epic tales they will tell for the rest of their lives! And the photos sure help too!
