True adventure vibes coming at you today!
Megan and Ryan had a whirlwind of a year. 2020 came at them hard, ruining their plans to move to Australia and quarantining them. However, this elopement was what they always wanted, pandemic or no pandemic.
We met them at Sun Mountain Lodge, in Winthrop, all the way on the east side of North Cascades National Park. It is a stunning resort with 360 views of mountains, arid, desert vibes, miles of hiking trails and a bunch of amenities. Megan and Ryan got ready in their hotel room, and did an emotional first look on the lawn outside, mountain views in the background. We popped some champagne and took photos on the lawn.
We headed into town, an adorable, old style western town, and ate some lunch to fuel up before our hike. We met the officiant at the trailhead and headed off on our adventure. The hike is a long gradual climb, with stops for views along the way, but the views at the top are some of the most breathtaking you’ve ever seen. We veered off on a side trail to visit a lake, sitting at the base of the mountains. Megan and Ryan got dressed and posed for some photos there before we continued up up up the trail!
At the top, the sun was already starting to set, and the views were spectacular. There wasn’t a cloud in the sky, and the mountains surrounded us. We ate a little more, because we sure burned off some serious fuel on that hike, and chased the light before the ceremony. They had a tearful, romantic ceremony and we refused to even begin the hike down until we got the last little bit of light left on camera.
This was truly an adventure elopement to remember!
