These two and their elopement was, in a word, AMAZING!
Lauren and Alan had an elopement, in true 2020 form, just fall into their laps. While they had originally only planned an intimate wedding with 10-15 people, as soon as guests shared concerns about traveling amidst the pandemic, they scratched their plan for everyone’s safety. Lauren shared that while she and Alan shared champagne on their Airbnb porch the night before their wedding, they realized that an elopement was truly all they every wanted.
When we asked them what the most important part of their elopement was, they said exploring a new place. They love to travel, it’s one of the things that brought them together as a couple. And with an endless list of amazing elopement spots in the state of Washington alone, much less the whole world, they had their work cut out for them.
Although they could have done away with the constantly changing nature of elopement planning in the pandemic world, they still enjoyed putting this day together. Lauren’s favorite part of planning was picking out the perfect wedding dress: a stunning, beaded, fitted gown with an illusion top. And Alan was in charge of finding the raddest lodging for their weekend away: A gorgeous, modern A-frame cabin tucked away in the woods.
They had their tearful first look in front of the floor to ceiling windows on the porch of their A-frame. They hung out, exchanged gifts and letters, and just enjoyed the moment. Then we set off to the ceremony location. It was a beautiful day, the mountains were out and looming in the background and the sky was clear. They had a beautiful, tearful ceremony, where they had letters, written by loved ones, read out loud. Having letters from loved ones at your elopement is a great way to include others in your elopement who couldn’t be there. They cut a small, adorable cake, signed their license, and then set off to hike, in true adventure form!
We hiked up the snowy trail and chased the light, taking pictures and making memories. We played their favorite song with the little service we had, and they had their first dance while the sun set. We slid around in the snow, playing and making it the best day ever!
