Remember Katie & Matt’s engagement session in The Hoh Rainforest? Welp… Let’s just keep those moody, misty, and magical Hoh Rainforest vibes going with Katie & Matt’s intimate Alderbrook Resort wedding.
The Couple
These two have got some SERIOUS style, and it consistently radiates out of everything that is their wedding!! They put so much careful time and thought into the trendy, stylish vibe of their wedding.
They had a beautifully handmade, triangle arch covered in greenery, and displayed a unique, two-toned seating board for their reception. Katie wore a high neck, long-sleeved dress with elegant buttons down the back. She carried a gorgeous, cascading greenery bouquet with white and yellow accent roses. Matt wore all black, accented with a black scarf to accentuate the moody trend.
One word comes to mind when we think of Katie & Matt: thoughtful. They don’t do things for sake of checking them off a list. They are mindful of their choices and there is meaning behind each element of their special day. Every decoration at their Alderbrook resort wedding, every accent was chosen because completely reflects them as individuals and as a couple. It has been so refreshing to witness a couple staying true to their unique selves and planning a day that was a clear reflection of who they are, individually and together.
The Alderbrook Resort Wedding
Their wedding day was held at Alderbrook Resort & Spa in Union, Washington. The morning and early afternoon was relaxed, similar to their personalities. They got ready, laughing among their intimate group of carefully chosen loved ones. And they pondered, excitedly over the perfectly misty wedding day that was ahead of them
They chose not to do a first look. One of the moments they were most excited about, was seeing each other for the first time at their ceremony. With their intimate group, this was perfect, and there was not a dry eye in the place. After the ceremony, we took a short drive over to Twanoh State Park for some portraits. It was raining off and on that day, and to be honest, it was perfect. Maybe it’s because we shot in the rain for their engagement session, but we can’t help but feel that rain suits these two.
The forest was quiet and made for a perfect setting for the newlyweds to soak up all of those “we just got married” feels. We laughed and celebrated together, capturing their genuine, excited emotions. They posed under a clear umbrella for a few photos, then braved the rain for the rest. And they took time to soak in every second of the day they waited so long for. We had a couple of minutes to spare before needing to be back for cocktail hour, so we strolled down to the beach to take advantage of a little bit of sun that was making its debut, and And It was gorgeous!
Their Alderbrook Resort wedding was so much fun! Their reception was decorated with geometric boxes and greenery galore. Dark tablecloths on the tables made the greenery and their geometric terrarium table number displays jump out. They displayed polaroids on a wire display board and had polaroid cameras set out for guests to take photos with funny masks. They enjoyed a wild dance party and laughed until they cried while cutting their cake. This couple took advantage of every precious second of their day. If I can take away any advice to give to a couple after this wedding, it’s to be mindful of every minute that goes by and soak it all in.
Katie and Matt, Thank you so much for including us in such a special time in your lives. It has been so wonderful getting to know you over the last year and a half. Keep being you. Keep being amazing. And keep being thoughtful.
