Sarah and Alec originally contacted us to let us they were planning to elope in the mountains of the Pacific Northwest. It was only going to be them and an officiant. Oh, and of course us as the photographers, which also doubled as their witnesses. If you are planning your elopement location be sure to consider Washington State as it is one of the best places to elope.
Finding the perfect location for their Washington hiking Elopement
Sarah and Alec decided on a specific hike on the North Cascades for their elopement. They had never done the hike before. Therefore, had no clue where the ceremony was actually going to be held. The trail we were on was a big loop. A total of 8 miles all the way around. Upon leaving the parking lot, the objective was to hike until we found the perfect setting for their Washington hiking elopement.
The location they chose was nothing short of perfection. It’s no wonder we included this area in the best places to elope in Washington State.

Getting ready and the first look
The couple chose to have their first look at the Diablo Lake lookout. This location also ended up being the location they finished getting ready. It was a beautiful day for this Washington hiking elopement but it was very very windy at the overlook. After documenting their first look we headed back to the cars to prepare for an adventure to find their ceremony location.
The epic Washington hiking elopement
Sarah and Alex had never hiked this trail before. Therefore, they did not know what to expect. We were on the search for their perfect ceremony location while on this Washington mountain trail. They changed out of their wedding clothes after their first look for the hike up. We stopped a couple of times along the trail to take some portraits. Soaking in the views along the way.
Pre-Ceremony Portraits
3.7 miles into the hike, we found the perfect spot for their North Cascades Elopement. Sarah and Alec helped each other get ready. We then took some portraits as we waited for the perfect light for their ceremony.
The Ceremony
We could have not been more happy with the spot we found for their ceremony. As soon as we had nice even shade we began their beautiful ceremony. With the sun lighting up the peaks of the mountains in the distance, this was truly a special sight. Best of all, it only got prettier and prettier as the evening went on. Sarah and Alec walked down the aisle together and then shared the most beautiful ceremony. Every view of these gorgeous North Cascades mountains was PERFECT. A photographer’s dream. We witnessed this North Cascades Elopement with our jaws on the floor and tears in our eyes. It was truly one of the most magical evenings. 
Sunset Elopement Portraits & Champagne Spray
After the ceremony, the couple kicked off their celebrations by spraying (and enjoying) a bottle of champagne. By that time, the sun had almost set and the light was nice and soft. Every direction we looked at was an adventurous, mountain-lovers dream. Every PNW local knows how rare clear, 360 mountain views are. However, this couple got a dream come true when the sky opened up for them to reveal the most epic, warm sunset, and the most stunning views that Washington has to offer. 
Washington is an adventurous couple’s dream. Between moody beaches, epic mountain hikes, gorgeous alpine lakes, and gorgeous forests. Washington has no shortage of amazing, romantic locations for any offbeat couple looking to elope.
