Tall Timber Ranch Engagement Session

Ok, give us ALL the snowy engagement sessions!!

Going into this engagement session, the weather was a wee bit chilly and it was spitting rain, but it did not phase Amanda or Jim at all. We met up a little early at a brewery in Leavenworth to chat for a bit and have a couple of beers. From there we caravanned out to Tall Timber Ranch, which is about 40 minutes out of downtown Leavenworth. There is ZERO phone service out there so we made sure to travel together to make sure that we didn’t lose each other.

Tall Timber Ranch is seriously such a hidden gem! A wilderness camp and retreat center, it is a place to go to reconnect to nature, and the world around you. They have wilderness education programs, summer camps, outdoor activities for all interests and activity levels, and We are so glad that Amanda and Jim were up for the journey. ?

When we got to Tall Timber Ranch, our jaws dropped. It was so snowy and gorgeous. We sunk an inch into the snow as soon as we got there, and it was the perfect white blanket on the ground. Not dirty yet, not overly trekked on, flocking the evergreens overhead. It was truly a winter wonderland.

Tall Timber Ranch is located in Chelan County, by Leavenworth and Chelan area, the Washington desert. It’s gorgeous and so warm in the spring and summer, but in the winter, the weather can be pretty extreme. Not like in Seattle, where being dropped in a valley between the mountain ranges, and right by the water, means that the snow doesn’t always make it; just lots of rain.

We started out their engagement session by keeping things casual… Focusing on their fun, goofy, and light-hearted personalities. What better way to capture that than by playing in the snow? Everyone loves playing in the snow! They had so much fun, throwing snowballs and tickling each other. This, in our opinion, is the best way to loosen up our couples for a shoot. We love just getting to know our couples and witnessing their dynamic.

They posed in their warm clothes in front of the A-frame ranch house on the property, buried in snow. After shooting for a bit, they let us know that they had an outfit change so we headed back to the main lodge at Tall Timber Ranch to change, get cozy and thaw out  a bit by the fire. I mean, we may have under-exaggerated it a bit earlier, it was pretty darn cold.

Our jaws hit the floor when they came strolling out of the bathroom 5 minutes later looking like they were straight out of a magazine. Amanda and Jim are both very into fashion and totally rocked their second look… SO elegant. Amanda wore a dramatic black skirt over a turtleneck bodysuit, that popped so much against the white snow. And Jim wore a black suit was an awesome purple pocket square, the perfect pop of color.

Oh! And fun fact… Amanda has a secret superpower of ‘throwing’ her hair up in 30 seconds into the perfect updo. I mean… I’m talking “I just came back from the salon” kind of updo. In 30 seconds. What?

Ok, I’ll stop rambling, so we can get to the pictures. ? Enjoy the oh so lovely Amanda and Jim… Both goofy and glamorous
